The March edition of the Cybersecurity Meetup Munich was hosted by Wiz and Spike Reply, who welcomed the community to the Spike Reply Office, an excellent venue that fostered both knowledge sharing and vibrant networking. The evening focused on one of today’s most pressing topics: the role of AI in cybersecurity, with experts from both companies sharing valuable insights and realworld perspectives.
Talk 1 — “AI x Sovereign Cloud: Innovation and Compliance for Highly Regulated Industries”
Presented by: Markus Moeltner & Felix Jung, Spike Reply
Markus Moeltner and Felix Jung explored the challenges organizations face when deploying AI within regulated industries. As organizations race to adopt AI, they often face a conflict between innovation and strict compliance requirements like the EU AI Act and GDPR. They described the current landscape of Sovereign Cloud in Europe, and clarified the difference between simple “Data Residency” and “Digital Sovereignty.
The U.S. hyperscaler offerings was contrasted with European alternatives and specific threat models associated with pre-trained versus self-hosted AI models were analyzed.
A standout part of the session was their practical demonstration of “Containerized AI,” showing how selfhosted opensource models can run in a serverless, sovereign environment. The goal: empower attendees to navigate the complexities of AI compliance, understand the trade-offs between control and feature breadth, and leverage modern container technology to achieve full data control without sacrificing innovation.

Talk 2 — “Securing the Agentic AI Era”
Presented by: Felix Brehmer & Cedric Feist, Wiz
Securing this modern landscape requires an end-to-end approach from code to runtime, protecting infrastructure, models, data, and applications. To stay ahead, organizations must adopt a strategy of winning AI with AI.
By leveraging AI-powered security assistants and autonomous agents, defenders can use their unique advantage of deep internal context to achieve full visibility, proactively reduce risks, and protect their environments against automated attacks.

A Strong Community, Great Conversations
The evening wrapped up with delicious finger food, drinks, and plenty of engaging conversations, once again demonstrating the strength, curiosity, and collaborative spirit of Munich’s tech and cybersecurity community.
It was another inspiring meetup in the heart of the city, and we’re already looking forward to the next one hosted by KPMG.
